At the 10U level, we have the concept of build out lines.
- 10U matches include build-out lines to promote development of technical skills by giving the attacking team more room to develop an attack from the defensive third in an unpressured setting
- BOL are located across the field equidistant between the top of the penalty area and the halfway line
- BOL impact: 1) Keeper’s ball distribution 2) Goal kicks 3) Offside (instead of halfway line)
- Opponents must retreat behind the BOL for a goal kick or when the Keeper gains possession of the ball
- Keeper distributing the ball via a throw, roll or pass, or keeper/player taking a goal kick does not have to wait for opponents to retreat behind the BOL. The ball can be distributed to either side of the BOL.
- Opponents may cross the BOL and challenge as soon as the ball is released from Keeper’s hands by throw, roll, or pass. On goal kicks, opponents may cross the BOL and challenge as soon as the ball is kicked.
