Founded in 1994, our local AYSO Region is one of more than 900 local programs in communities worldwide. Region 1007 primarily serves the communities of Deerfield, Riverwoods, and Bannockburn. Region 1007 belongs to Section 6, Area D in AYSO’s national structure. Section 6 covers Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, eastern Iowa and Upper Michigan. Area D is composed of AYSO regions serving Deerfield and the following communities:
- Morton Grove, Skokie, Highland Park, Glenview, Evanston, Glencoe, Winnetka, Rolling Meadows, and the Chicago – Rogers Park/Lincoln Park areas.
Each Region is organized under the same bylaws, rules and regulations, which standardize operational procedures and playing rules. However, because community needs may be different, regions have the flexibility to satisfy their unique needs.
Our Regional Commissioner and the Regional Board of Directors meet once a month (normally the 2nd Monday of each month at the Jewett Park Community Center at 7:30pm) and perhaps more often for preseason planning. As a parent of an AYSO player – and hopefully a volunteer! – you are welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings. In fact, it is dedicated volunteers, parents just like yourself, who work to ensure our program is running effectively and that the AYSO philosophies are upheld… and of course, to make sure the kids are having fun.
It is also important to remember that we are an affiliate of and very closely aligned with our local Deerfield Park District.
Please get to know your child’s coaches and other parents. Volunteer your time and talents to make our region run well, and both you and your child will benefit from the AYSO experience
